chalet fleur de neige
summer
walks, lakes and swimming
there are dozens of walks for all abilities (you'll find books and maps at the chalet), and the lake at montriond (just 10 mins away) has a special swimming area.
you can also drive down to thonon and visit the beaches at geneva lake, with swimming and pedalos etc.
there's an outdoor public pool in morzine but it does get mobbed with kids...!
there's a new swimming lake and leisure area in les gets with different climbing/play areas and bike trails plus a restaurant - a lovely place to spend a day.
mountain biking and adventure sports
morzine and avoriaz are huge mountain biking destinations, with several lifts running throughout the summer season. bikes, protective gear, guides and lessons are all easily available in morzine town centre.
water sports are also easily accessible, with white water rafting down the local river just 15 minutes away. down on the lake at geneva you can hire canoes and jet skis and take boat rides across to lausanne or along to yvoire.
nearby there are lots of things for kids too, including a long cable slide at chatel and various parcour courses (like go ape, climbing in the trees).
hang gliding runs in good weather too... there's no shortage of ways to burn off some energy :)
the chalet
the chalet is fabulous in the summer, with a big sunny terrace for sunbathers (it's fully fenced in to prevent small people escaping) and a big shady area with table, chairs and barbecuing for open air dinners.
the wood construction keeps it cool inside - it can easily be in the 30s during august!
